Friday Night and Saturday Night Draft at Brute Force Games

Every Friday and Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. is a Magic: The Gathering Booster Draft Tournament at Brute Force Games! Participants join in a Booster Draft of the most recent Magic: The Gathering set.

Entry Fee: $23 (for standard draft events. For events like Modern Horizons or Commander Masters products the entry cost may differ.)

Prizing: Pack Per Win - Your chance to win packs from the latest MTG set and upgrade your collection!

Sign Up: In-store day-of; no preregistration required.

How to Play Booster Draft

In the Booster Draft format you draft (pick) your deck from fresh packs and showcase your drafting skills. This format requires eight players who each draft one card at a time from booster packs as the cards rotate around the table. Drafting continues until all of the cards are gone. Zone Drafting is used to prevent cards from stacking up on top of each other as they rotate. This means that players don't pass cards until the other person has picked up the previous pass. At this point, each player builds their deck with a minimum of 40 cards. Then it's time for 3 swiss rounds to come out on top!

Experience Level: Perfect for both new and experienced players.

Our Top Tip: Start with putting 17 lands in your deck so you have enough resources to play the game!

Casual Commander at Brute Force Games

Every day from 12:00 - 6:00 p.m. you can join a Casual Commander event at Brute Force Games. Our free Commander events are perfect for those who enjoy relaxed, social gameplay without the pressure of rounds or timers. No need to worry about standings or competition—just bring your best strategies and enjoy an afternoon of Magic: The Gathering with friends.

How to Play Commander

In Magic: The Gathering Commander, you can build your deck with cards going all the way back through Magic's history. MTG Commander decks (or MTG EDH decks) are made up of 100 cards, with 99 cards in the main deck. Only 1 copy of each card in your deck.

Experience Level: This is the perfect event for those who enjoy relaxed, social gameplay without the pressure of rounds or timers. Commander is better played with four people.

Our Top Tip: Be sure to check the Ban List! Cards on the Wizards of the Coast Ban List cannot be used in your Commander decks.

Pauper Tournaments at Brute Force Games

Every Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. is a Magic: The Gathering Pauper Tournament at Brute Force Games! Participants join in either a Regular Pauper Tournament or, on the first Saturday of each month, our Pauper Qualifiers.

Regular Pauper Tournament: $5 entry fee, 100% store credit prizing

Pauper Qualifier: $10 entry fee (first Saturday of each month), prizing feeds into our Bi-Annual Championship Event

Sign Up: In-store day-of; no preregistration required.

How to Play Pauper

Enjoy the simplicity and challenge of the Pauper format, where only Common cards are allowed. Rules are the same as the Standard format, but in Pauper your deck can only include cards that have been printed at the Common rarity.

Experience Level: Pauper is a competitive, fun format that lets you test your skills and strategies.

Our Top Tip: Pauper decks are super fast! Make sure you're ready!

Standard Format at Brute Force Games

Standard is BACK at Brute Force Games and we're giving it back to Fridays. Play the Standard format during FNM at 6:45 p.m. opposite the Booster Draft Tournament.

While we may never return to the era of 60-70 person Standard FNMs, we hope we can return to a time when people enjoyed playing Standard outside of Arena at their friendly local game store.

Entry Fee: $10

Prizing: 100% store credit

Bonus: Brute Force Games will have additional promos just for participating.

How to Play Standard

In the Standard MTG format players build a minimum 60-card deck from your collection using only cards from the latest sets. You can only have four of any card in your deck, with the exception of basic lands.

Experience Level: Have a little MTG experience under your belt? You're likely ready for the strategic challenge of Standard.

Our Top Tip: Increase your chances of winning the Standard format by understanding what decks you're likely to face.
